Before setting up a CNAME
As with changes to any website, adding a new CNAME may take some time to activate. In the meantime, to preview your site you can set up a hosts entry. This will allow you to view the white label only from your own computer. You will need administrative rights to do this.
- Open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
- Double click ‘hosts’ and select Notepad from the list of installed programs
- Add a line to the end of the file ‘220.127.116.11 example.com’ where ‘flights.example.com’ is the address you put into the CNAME field of your configuration engine.
This will enable you to view the site from your computer.
Important: don’t forget to remove this line again once your site goes live!
The "preview" button will allow you to view changes to a live and accessible white label before publishing those changes.
